New Product: EZ-Cup (for Keurig)

At Shoffee.com, we are constantly searching for new coffee-related products to offer our customers. The problem with coffee-related products is that everyone has one to sell you, and most of them aren't even worth the time it takes to listen to the pitch.

The EZ-Cup (for Keurig) by Perfect Pod is definitely an exception in a world filled with copycat products. The concept behind the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) is simple, give Keurig users the opportunity to use any coffee they like in their Keurig K-Cup Brewer, and make it easy. The manufacturers of the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) do a great job in making the concept a reality. Not only is the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) easy to use, it makes a great cup of coffee (and, as a bonus, is extremely easy to clean up).

Here's how the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) works:

Step 1: Place an EZ-Cup Disposable Filter (available on Shoffee.com) in the center of the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) and wrap the edges around the EZ-Cup (for Keurig).

Step 2: Fill the EZ-Cup Disposable Filter with your favorite ground coffee (or loose leaf tea).

Step 3: Close the paper lid and wrap the edges around the rim.

Step 4: Close the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) lid (be sure to close the lid tightly).

Step 5: Insert the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) into your Keurig K-Cup Brewer just as you would a Keurig K-Cup (no need to remove anything from the brewer).

Step 6: Brew and enjoy (okay, yes that's actually two steps).

You may be asking, what makes the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) different from other device available to use your own coffee in a Keurig K-Cup Brewer? The answer is two-fold, first is the EZ-Cup Disposable Filter, instead of using a reusable metal filter, the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) uses a disposable paper filter that fits perfectly inside. The EZ-Cup Disposable Filter works just as a regular coffee filter, or the tiny paper filter found inside a Keurig K-Cup does - it stops coffee grounds from sneaking through to your cup. The second thing that makes the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) different is its self-tamping spring. The pressure created between the self-tamping spring and the snap-tight lid allow for better extraction and a better cup of coffee or tea.

So if you've ever wanted to to use a coffee from Peet's, Starbucks, Intellegentsia or any other great coffee shop in your Keurig K-Cup Brewer, or you just want to have a back-up plan if you ever miss your Shoffee.com Order Reminder and run out of Keurig K-Cups; the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) is a great solution. We have been using the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) here in the Shoffee.com offices for more than a month now, and have really loved this product. Along with the travel cups from Copco and Stoneware mugs from miam.miam of San Francisco, we put the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) as Shoffee.com Staff Favorites.

And if price is an issue, the EZ-Cup (for Keurig) and the EZ-Cup Disposable Filter are extremely affordable:

EZ-Cup (for Keurig) - $12.95 each at Shoffee.com
EZ-Cup Disposable Filter (50 pack) - $4.95 each at Shoffee.com

Odobenus Rosmarus Select Coming to Exclusively Shoffee.com this Month

Okay, I was a bit skeptical at first. I mean I never even tried Kopi Luwak (the world's most expensive coffee, passed through the digestive system of the Asian Palm Civet). So when the team from the Norte Rica Trading Company came into the office this morning, I will say that I was not thinking that I would be tasting Shoffee.com's newest, and most unique product offering ever - Odobenus Rosmarus Select (aka the Walrus Blend).

Needless to say the thought of drinking a coffee that is created by passing green coffee through the digestive system of a walrus before it is roasted sounded (for lack of a better word) gross.

The team from Norte Rica explained that the creation of Odobenus Rosmarus Select uses the exact same idea in processing as Kopi Luwak. Fresh Costa Rican coffee is shipped to the South Pole, and fed to select groups of only the finest 4,000-plus pound walruses. The green coffee beans pass through the digestive system of each walrus, and are then harvested by farmers from Norte Rica. The coffee is cleaned and processed at a climate-controled plant, built at the South Pole (by Norte Rica) for this use in production of Odobenus Rosmarus Select. The coffee is roasted, based on three distinct roasting recipes (light roast, medium-dark roast and espresso), and will be available in a decaffeinated version within the next 90 days.

The thought behind Odobenus Rosmarus Select is that the average daily food intake of a walrus is about 8000 times that of an Asian Palm Civet, therefore this coffee created through an identical process used in creating Kopi Luwak is available at a much more affordable price.

After trying a cup of Odobenus Rosmarus Select, my best suggestion is to block the idea of how it is created out of your mind. If you can do that, you will definitely enjoy the finest cup of coffee you have ever tasted. I tried the Odobenus Rosmarus Select Breakfast Blend (Light Roast), and it truly is the best breakfast blend I've ever tasted (sorry Diedrich Morning Edition Keurig K-Cups).

The full Odobenus Rosmarus Select line will be available exclusively on Shoffee.com beginning Monday, April 19, 2010, and will be offered in whole bean, ground and pod varieties. Odobenus Rosmarus Select will be priced very competitively with other similar products currently available on Shoffee.com.
