UPDATE: The Ultimate Guide to Surviving the Discontinuation of Timothy's Keurig K-Cups

We know that many lovers of Timothy's Keurig K-Cups are indeed in a panic about last week's announcement that their favorite coffee will no longer be available in the United States starting September 9, 2011. We were even basically told that we were lying on our own Facebook page.

Well, now that we've had a few days to comb through the details, and several other places have come out and backed up our story about Timothy's K-Cups soon being discontinued, so it is time to move on to the next phase -- your post-Timothy's strategy (short-term strategy anyway).

There are several Timothy's Keurig K-Cup Portion Packs that do not have equivalent coffee varieties available from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (or anywhere else). There are a few varieties from Timothy's that we have elected to stock up on, so that you will not be without your favorites.

Here is the list of Timothy's Keurig K-Cups that will be (basically) irreplaceable starting September 9th:

Timothy's Decaf Colombian Keurig K-Cups - the last-standing of the decaffeinated Colombian K-Cups, will be no more. If you are a fan of decaf Colombian coffee in a Keurig K-Cup, your only option will be to switch to a blend with a similar flavor.

Timothy's Original Donut Blend Keurig K-Cups - the lightest of the donut blends, and the one that looks the closest to the Dunkin' Donuts Keurig K-Cups available at Dunkin' Donuts Stores nationwide, will be gone for good. This will definitely be the most widely missed of the Timothy's Keurig K-Cups.

Timothy's German Chocolate Cake Keurig K-Cups - this is the K-Cup that introduced me to flavored coffee back in 2001. There is no other flavored Keurig K-Cup like German Chocolate Cake, and we know of no plans to create another.

Timothy's Irish Cream Keurig K-Cups - for Irish Cream lovers, this one will be a huge loss. Even Green Mountain lists the replacement as "n/a" in their "Timothy's Portion Pack Suggested Replacements for Discontinued Products" list.

After that bad news, here's the good news: Shoffee will have plenty of stock on these varieties as long as Green Mountain Coffee Roasters allows.

Remember, while the expiration date on Keurig K-Cup Portion Packs is usually nine (9) months from the date they are produced, they are good for well beyond that. So if these are your favorites, our advice -- STOCK UP!

UPDATE: Timothy's Keurig K-Cup Portion Pack Replacements for Discontinued Products (from GMCR)

Now that the team at Shoffee.com has had a few days to digest the information that Green Mountain will be 'discontinuing' some of our favorite Keurig K-Cups, it is probably time to come up with a plan to move forward in your Keurig-Brewing Life.

Late last week, Green Mountain sent us over a document titled "Timothy's Portion Pack Suggested Replacements for Discontinued Products (PDF)." We wanted to provided you with this list of replacements to make things as smooth as possible with your transition to a new coffee.

While most of the replacements listed in the chart are very close to the Timothy's Keurig K-Cups they will be replacing, there are a few like Green Mountain FT Vermont Country Blend being suggested as a replacement for Timothy's Winter Carnival Keurig K-Cups that had us scratching our heads. And if you're a huge fan of Timothy's Irish Cream, you're only replacement is listed as n/a (and we're pretty sure n/a is decaffeinated).

Timothy's Keurig K-Cups Set to be Discontinued in the United States

After more than a year of speculation, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters informed us earlier today that Timothy's World Coffee Brand Keurig K-Cup Portion Packs will no longer be available in the United States, effective September 9, 2011.

In a letter dated August 15, 2011, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters states:

"Effective September 9, 2011 Timothy World Coffee K-Cup portion pack beverage varieties will no longer be available in the wholesale channel in the United States. This will enable us to offer yo a more consistent supply of products that best meet customer demand under the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. (GMCR), Specialty Coffee Business Unite (SCBU) family of brands."

The wording of the letter does leave open the question as to whether Timothy's World Coffee Keurig K-Cups will be available at all within the United States at grocery, retail and specialty outlets. Stay tuned to the Shoffee Blog for all of the latest details on this and other single-serve coffee news, including a breakdown of all of the suggested replacements for your favorite Timothy's World Coffee K-Cup portion pack beverage varieties.

All the Timothy's Keurig K-Cups currently available on Shoffee.com will continue to be available as long as we have inventory.
